In a recent newsletter, I talked about why firms should open up multiple office locations, with multiple Google Business Profiles.

The gist of what I said was:

The Maps algorithm gives the highest ranking to firms that are closest to the searcher.

So, you want to make sure you arrange your office locations to “encircle” your target area.

An attorney wrote back:

“I disagree. It depends on where your first office location is. That’ll guide the strategy of whether you need more office locations or not.”

I.e., if your first office is in a prime spot, then adding more is unnecessary.

This was Thanksgiving Day, so I dashed off a reply:

“Hey, I used to think that too. If you’re happy with the amount of cases that you’re getting, keep riding that wave.”

To be clear, there is no sarcasm behind that!

It’s just all I could honestly say.

What worked last year might not work this year!
